Warwick Farm Racecourse is a racecourse at
Warwick Farm a south-west
suburb of
Sydney,
New South Wales,
Australia.
Warwick Farm Racecourse once served dual purposes as both a racecourse for
thoroughbred horse racing and between 1960 and 1973, for
automobile racing. The facility hosted the
Australian Grand Prix in 1963, 1967, 1970, and 1971.

History
Early in the twentieth century this racecourse was owned by Edwin Oatley who died in 1920. His son, Cecil, was the Manager of the property for a number of years, until 1924. Another son, Percy, was Secretary of the Warwick Farm Racing Club from 1906 until 1914.
World War II
The racecourse was utilised as a camp by Australian, American and British armed forces during
World War II. The camp was known as
Camp Warwick and also
HMS Golden Hind.
Motorsport
The Racing track was built in the early 1950s. It had a unique but rather small design yet it provided closely packed action. It had soon become a major track of the 1960s for Australia when it was involved in the
Australian Touring Car Championship. It was soon selected by the
FIA to host the
Australian Grand Prix on 4 occasions:
1963,
1967,
1970 &
1971.
The circuit hosted a round of the famous
Tasman Series for many years. Also in the early 1970's Warwick Farm conducted a round of the South Pacific Series for Production cars. The last major race at Warwick Farm was the final round of the 1973 Australian Touring Car Championship on 15 July. The motor racing circuit closed in August of that year.
